Spring
Start Up
STEPS
BEFORE YOU REFILL
• Remove any
debris in and around
the spa and wipe the
shell surface clean
with a damp sponge.
Be careful not to
scratch the surface
with any particles
that may have fallen
into the tub.
• Make sure
that the "T"
valves on each water
pump are open by pulling
them up as far as
they will go. Each
water pump has two
"T" valves
that are located on
either side of it.
Both "T"
valves must be open
to enable air and
water to flow through
the spa's internal
pipes.
• Tighten all
water pump and heater
unions.
• Check all
drain plugs located
on each water pump
to make certain they
are closed.
• Make sure
the hose spigot on
the water pump is
closed by turning
it until it is tight.
The hose spigot is
located on the primary
water pump.
• Make sure
all filters are in
place.
• Always be
sure to check your
water source for soft
water or a high mineral
content before filling
your spa.
• If your home
has a water softner,
bypass it.
• Let the water
run out of the garden
hose for several minutes
before filling the
spa. This will flush
out stagnant water
in the line that may
contain bacteria.
INITIAL
SPA START-UP
• Begin filling
your spa after following
the steps above. Fill
the spa to the recommended
level: at least 2"
above the filter inlet
and approximately
6" below the
spa rim.
• Once your
spa is sufficiently
filled, turn on the
spa's main circuit
breaker (after reading
all warnings).
• Turn on the
water pump(s).
• Once the water
pumps are operatings,
set the digital thermostat
between 100°F
and 104°F (Do
not exceed 104°F).
• Shut off the
therapy control valve
that controls the
jets to the filtration
pump. This will save
you heating costs,
along with helping
you to keep bacteria
out of the water when
the hot tub is not
in use.
• Install and
secure the insulated
cover.
• Allow between
5 and 24 hours for
the water to reach
your desired temperature.
• Treat the
water with chemicals,
performing the start-up
procedure for your
preferred sanitation
method.
