Flushing
& Cleaning the
Lines
There are many plumbing
lines in a spa. No
matter how clean you
keep the water, chemicals
only clean the water,
not the plumbing lines.
Bacteria and mildew-attracting
scum can accumulate
in the vast number
of spa plumbing lines
and fittings. You
need to flush and
clean them in order
to prolong the life
of your spa and keep
it running smoothly.
We strongly recommend
flushing and cleaning
the lines every six
months to one year,
or whenever you notice
a skim film developing
around the spa fittings.
You should do this
procedure right before
you drain your spa.
Use a spa bath &
spa cleaner to dissolve
the build up of body
oils, dirt, hair,
soap, scum, rust,
and mineral deposits
which are the perfect
breeding ground for
bacteria and mold.
1.
Pour the spa bath
& spa cleaner
into the spa water.
2.
Close all therapy
valves.
3.
Turn all the pumps
and blowers on high
for approximately
10 - 15 minutes. The
water will become
very sudsy. Monitor
the water so it does
not foam over. If
it looks like it will,
turn off all pumps
and blowers and wait
for the foam build-up
to subside.
4.
Let the water soak
in the spa and plumbing
lines for three hours
with pump and blowers
turned off.
5.
Open the air controls.
6. Turn
pumps and blowers
back on for about
10 minutes and monitor
the spa. Sudsing may
reoccur.
7.
Shut down all pumps
and blowers, and turn
the spa circuit breaker
off.
8.
Drain the spa.
9.
Once you drain and
refill the spa, turn
on all pumps and blowers
for 15 minutes to
eliminate any suds
still remaining in
the lines.
10.
Drain the spa a second
time.
11.
Refill the spa again
and treat the water
with chemicals as
you would for any
normal start-up. |
